Слава Ісусу Христу! Glory be to Jesus Christ!
Our Parish St Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral has now been operating under the strict rules imposed by the Covid 19 Pandemic. Thankfully, before this last shutdown our parish activities had begun to revive, and each Sunday about 30 parishioners gathered for Divine Liturgy.
Unfortunately, our financial situation is not coming back to normal. We are heavily dependent on the weekly collection basket donations and what with attendance being significantly lower, and periodic shutdowns, the number of envelopes is down as well. This, in addition the earlier months when we had no revenue at all, has created a grave situation.
We still must pay all the expenses of running the church that existed in pre-Covid times, including taxes on the property, heating, insurance and other costs that remain in place. We have, thankfully, been able to apply for the Federal Government’s wage subsidy program, which allows us to meet our payroll.
Therefore, we appeal to you to help us in this period of need. Please continue to make the equivalent of your weekly offerings, even if you are not attending Liturgy. As 2020 marks the 95th Anniversary of the founding of our Parish, we are asking all of you to consider making an additional donation of $95 as tribute to our founders and as assistance in this difficult time.
There are several ways to donate to the Church on a regular basis:
1. The Parish account is now set up to receive e-transfers. The e-transfer amount should be sent to our church email address stmaryprotectress@gmail.com, along with a separate email containing the security question.
2. Cheques made out to St Mary the Protectress UOC can be sent to our Parish Treasurer Orysia Koster c/o 20 Aster Ave. R2V 2K6.
3. The possibility of establishing pre-authorized debits from your bank account to that of the Parish exists as well. Please contact Orysia Koster at okoster@mymts.net to find out the process
4. On the Parish Website (www.stmarytheprotectress.ca/support-us) there is an option to make a donation to the Parish directly using your credit card. Click on the “on-line” button, and follow the instructions.

In conclusion we ask that you be generous in your regular donations, contribute $95 (or more!) to the 95th anniversary drive. When the time comes, we look forward to seeing you in Church and to the time when through God’s help the Pandemic has been defeated and our Parish life returns to normal. ДОРОГІ БРАТИ І СЕСТРИ!
Наша парафія Собору Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці Української Православної Церкви Канади, як і увесь світ, переживає важкі часи епідемії коронавірусу. Великі обмеження змінили життя усіх нас. Кілька місяців наш Собор був взагалі замкнений.
На жаль, від початку епідемії коронавірусу, Соборна громада дуже потерпіла і зараз потерпає фінансово. Не було Богослужень, не було збірки. Видатки ж на утримання церкви залишилися такими, як були до епідемії. Треба платити і податки, і асикурацію, і за світло і за тепло. Дякуючи державній підтримці, ми змогли платити платню тим, що працюють при Соборі.
Отож ми дуже просимо Вашої фінансової підтримки в цей тяжкий час. Не забуваймо, що приходить ЗИМА!!!Просимо давати пожертви на церкву навіть коли ви не можете бути присутніми на богослужінні. Церква молиться і за тих хто є, і за відсутніх.
В цьому році наш Собор святкує 95 років від свого заснування. На жаль, ми не можемо зараз мати урочисте святкування. Треба трошки почекати. Але ми закликаємо Вас, дорогі Брати і Сестри, як виявлення Вашої любови і пошани до нашого рідного Собору, скласти окрему пожертву у розмірі $95.00 (чи більше).
