Dmytro Mischuk 1921 - Jan 17, 2018


DMYTRO MISCHUK Peacefully Dmytro Mischuk passed away on January 17, 2018. He will be sadly missed by his son Dennis, daughter Lorraine Orysia (Tim Osachuk) grandson Ilya, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Nellie Mischuk, siblings in Ukraine Andrew, Roman, Maryska, Naolitka and Hannia. Dmytro was born August 10, 1921 in the village Berezyny in Western Ukraine (Volyn). He made his way to Canada in January 1948 arriving in Saskatchewan. On July 15, 1955 he married Nellie Sowtis of Fosston Saskatchewan and within a short time moved to Winnipeg where they made their home and raised their family. Dmytro was a long time employee of Acme Chrome Furniture until he retired in 1985. In the early years he also owned a grain farm a long-time dream of Dmytro's. The Mischuk family are long time members of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral where Dmytro was a member of the Order of St. Andrew, served on the building committee and other volunteer capacities. Dmytro was a loving and dedicated husband, father, dido and friend. The one very special joy in his life was his grandson Ilya. Dmytro enjoyed looking after his family to ensure that they had a better life in Canada his newly adopted country and never forgot his beloved Ukraine. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Avenue. Funeral Rite will be served on Monday, January 22 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, 1175 Main Street with Very Rev. Archpriest Eugene Maximiuk and Rev. Fr. Alexander Harkavyj officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dmytro's memory may be made to either Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral or St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. The family wishes to thank all of the kind and caring staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital who cared for Dmytro during his short illness. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT MEMORY ETERNAL
